Day trade: There are a lot of different concepts of what daytrading is. We define daytrading as trading a few times per day in different stocks each time, and ending the day all cash. Daytrading involves entering and exiting positions in the course of one trading day. The objective is to achieve smalls gains, which compounded over time, turn into large gains. The goal with daytrading is to make trades that are basically good bets.
We buy the stocks at open and sell on close in the same day. Swing Trade: Swing trading is very simple. It is buying and selling (or shorting and covering) stock with a medium time frame in mind. A medium time frame is defined as two to ten days. We maintain the stock for a maximum of two days, what is different from day trading that buys stocks when the market opens and sells them when it closes on the same day.
We buy the stocks at the open market and sell on the next day at close.
Both systems uses exactly the same stocks positions and entries, the only difference is the holding period.
